Sinoćnjoj skupštini Liste za Rijeku obratio se i Gunther Dauwen, direktor European Free Alliancea, europske parlamentarne stranke sa 7 zastupnika u EU parlamentu koja će krajem mjeseca primiti Listu za Rijeku u punopravno članstvo. Dauwen je istaknuo sličnosti njegove domovine Flandrije i Rijeke budući da se i povijest Flandrije sastoji od razdoblja okupacija i autonomija.
– Želimo biti glas Liste za Rijeku i vašeg grada u Europskom parlamentu, ali isto tako očekujemo i od vas kada dobijete svoje zastupnike u EU parlamentu da budete glas onih koji ga još nemaju. Sadašnja ekonomska i financijska kriza u EU i u svijetu (sjetite se samo problema u Grčkoj i Španjolskoj) pokazala je da je potrebna suradnja na ekonomskom, političkom, socijalnom i kulturnom planu kako bi garantirala mir, socio-ekonomsku jednakost, kulturalnu i jezičnu raznolikost. To su naši istinski ciljevi!Isto to ćemo reći predsjedniku Europskog vijeća Hermanu Van Rompuyu. Sastat ćemo se s njim preksutra u Bruxellesu. Naša predsjednica Nelly Maes, predsjednica grupacije EFE u EU parlamentu Jill Evans i ja održat ćemo razgovor s Hermanom Van Rompuyem. Od njega ćemo tražiti potporu za daljnju decentralizaciju, regionalizaciju i regionalni status Grada Rijeke u približavanju Hrvatske Europskoj Uniji, istaknuo je Dauwen i poručio hrvatskoj centralnoj vlasti da je decentralizacija i regionalizacija proces koji neće moći zaustaviti.
– Za vrijeme posjeta Rijeci, želio sam vidjeti i mjesto gdje se proizvodio torpedo. S obzirom na moje dojmove s tog mjesta, želio bih poručiti Zagrebu – vrijeme je da prestanete torpedirati riječku regiju i riječku ekonomiju! – naglasio je Dauwen i izazvao ovacije skupštinara Liste za Rijeku. (rd)

“EFA’s intervention in the Lista Za Rijeku Congress was well received by its members and by the Press.
The Conference of the progressive and growing party Lista Per Fiume/ Lista za Rijeku was a big succes. The party, only founded in 2006, won the recent elections and they now have several councillors and a member of the Regional county Parliament. Most of all they have the support of the population and the determination to bring about change in Croatia.
The party is closesly watched by the traditional parties from Zagreb, they feel their political successes in an over-centralised Croatia, disrespecting the region, might soon be over. The Croatian constitution gives powers to the regional parliaments but the particracy and the rule of conservatives (Zagreb) and social-democrats (Rijeka) torpedo all real implementation of decentralisation and true regionalisation.
More than 100 people witnessed how speakers of the Istrian association (with independent progressive candidates and lists from all over Istrian) Ladonia and Youth action (a political movement of young ecologists) spoke warmly and with high regard about Lista Per Fiume. The 3 political actors recently signed an agreement of co-operation making them a significant new player in the run up to get representation in the Zagreb parliament.
As director of EFA I visited the city and region and saw how the lack of investment in this region is a real problem. The old torpedo factory in the harbor, a jewel of industrial archeology, is abandoned and neglected. Investments could transform the whole harbour area into a new economic growth centre but … nothing happens.
EFA underlined in press interviews and to the militants of the party that a clear message should be send to Zagreb.
Rijeka and its citizens demand that Zagrebs stops “torpedo-ing” the social-economical future of the whole region. The region is responsible for a considerable part of Croatias income but no real return and no real decision powers are given to the citizens of the regions.
It’s time this changes and to Lista za Rijeku I say “Yes, you can!”
